FACIAL RELEASE THERAPY
FACIAL RELEASE THERAPY by Veronica Massa
Veronica's Signature Treatment for facial tension release
This unique treatment developed by Veronica addresses tight and tense facial muscles, emotional tension and blocked energy.
It helps with various problems including TMJ disorder and bruxism, neck tightness, pain, and headaches. It's also effective in decongesting sinuses.
A multidisciplinary therapy, draws from massage techniques, energetic healing, stretching and exercises, relaxation and breathing, aromatic healing and Facial Reflex Therapy.
Facial release therapy addresses the root muscular and connective tissue causes of jaw dysfunction rather than just masking symptoms. Unblock emotions and traumas held in your facial muscles manifesting through tension, premature ageing and health imbalances. Free up muscles memory and reset your nervous system.
Treatment: The treatment combines specialised deep massage techniques, acupressure and trigger points, TCM gua sha, with a subtle and healing touch including Trauma and Emotional Release, and Reset energy medicine. The treatment will help you to connect to your emotions and the blockages trapped in the facial muscles and meridians (energy channels) so that your vital force can flow freely again and release the energetic and physical "stagnation". Many meridians cross the face and through the face we can address the whole body and the central nervous system.
Connecting to your breathing and focusing on your heart, Veronica will encourage you to release what you are holding on to not only on a physical but also on a emotional level.
Best for: Tightness, pain and tension in facial muscles, head and neck. Emotional release. Stress Management.
Results: Boosting blood, lymphatic and Qi circulation, it softens facial muscles releasing tension, tightness and pain.
Sinuses are decongested and facial/head tension is released.
-
TMJ Pain Relief: By applying sustained, gentle pressure, the therapy releases fascial restrictions and "knots" (trigger points) in the jaw, face, and neck, leading to a significant reduction in chronic pain and a sense of "lightness" in the jaw.
-
Bruxism (Teeth Grinding) Control: Targeting the masseter and temporalis muscles helps break the cycle of habitual clenching and grinding. This often eliminates the secondary tension headaches and ear pain associated with bruxism.
-
Muscle Tightness & Flexibility: The treatment breaks down adhesions where fascia and muscles stick together, restoring elasticity and improving the overall range of motion (ROM) in the jaw and neck.
-
Restored Chewing & Function: By loosening restricted tissues, patients can regain the ability to open their mouths wide, chew, speak, and yawn without discomfort.
-
Relaxation Nervous System Calming: The slow, precise techniques stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to lower stress levels that frequently trigger jaw-related issues.
-
Enhanced Circulation & Healing: Improved blood and lymphatic flow delivers vital nutrients to strained tissues while reducing the inflammation and puffiness often seen with chronic TMJ.
Why Choose This Therapy?
-
Non-Invasive: A safe, drug-free alternative to splints, injections, or surgery.
-
Sustainable Results: While relief can be felt after one session, most patients experience significant, lasting improvement with few sessions of a consistent plan (depending on severity).
For fast, effective results a course of treatments is recommended.

FAQ
Q: What exactly is facial release therapy for TMJ?
A: It is a specialized manual therapy that focuses on the muscles and fascia. When this tissue becomes rigid due to stress or injury, it "traps" the jaw in a state of tension. The sustained pressure "unwind" these restrictions.
Q: How does it help with bruxism (teeth grinding)?
A: Bruxism is often a cycle: stress leads to clenching, which tightens the muscles, which creates more pain. Therapy interrupts this by calming the parasympathetic nervous system and physically lengthening the shortened muscles involved in grinding.
Q: I have trouble chewing. Will this help?
A: Yes. Inability to chew is often caused by trigger points (painful knots) in the muscles of mastication. By releasing these knots and restoring elasticity to the fascia, we improve joint lubrication and mobility, making chewing effortless again.
I had a client who dreamed of eating her favourite cereals again and after a treatment plan she is now able to enjoy them again pain free!
Q: Do you do "Buccal Massage"
A: I don't.
Q: How many sessions do I need?
A: While many feel a "springing" release after one session, lasting change for chronic TMJ or bruxism typically requires 3 to 6 sessions as the tissue learns to stay in its new, relaxed state. In some very severe cases more sessions are needed, every case is different. Consistent weekly treatments are key.
